Australia is a surfers' paradise ... but this nefarious surfing is on the 'net' ... and will destroy the global financial system. It's not just a rippling 'scam' job. Has Australia been infiltrated at levels they've never known? Elaina Williams uses a Cobra Pose in her Yoga studio to boost her energy – she will need it! Elaina's father, Edward, is in trouble. He's disappeared. As a solicitor and now yoga instructor, Elaina drags Ric, a man she's fallen for, into the bursting web of techno-thrilling intrigue. Ric Peters has just returned from a disastrous trip to Indonesia. Ric bills himself as a photojournalist. Elaina suspects he shoots more than just photographs. Ric has insight into the journey he and Elaina must take. He knows Elaina isn't ready for what's going to happen. There are too many moving parts for him to control. Time is running out before The Cobra and The Wolf strike with their heist. But these hackers are good at hiding. They make a living out of it. They are submerged Phantoms leaving no tracks. Can the burgeoning amateur sleuth Elaina piece this puzzle together before her father's fate is sealed? How far is Ric willing to go in deciding to save Elaina ... or Australia? Rupert Degas showcases his talents in this Australian mystery involving cyberterrorism, kidnapping, and romance. At the same time that yoga instructor Elaina Williams's father vanishes, sadistic "dark hat" hackers set out to bring down global banking. Luckily, Elaina's heartthrob, Ric, a photojournalist, seems to do more than take pictures during his international travels. The pair work together to get to the bottom of the plot. There are fine descriptive passages, suspense, and ample cyberspeak in this story. Degas shows his vocal reach by portraying Balkan terrorists, a cast of distinctively rendered Aussie agents, and the odd Brit and Yank. Listeners will appreciate his accents, pacing, facility with emotions, and overall competence in this techno-thriller. D.L.G. © AudioFile 2023, Portland, Maine

Rupert Degas returns to narrate Rogers and Roosen's second action-packed installment in the "Yoga Mat Mysteries" series (following Dead Man's Pose). The story opens as yoga instructor Elaina Williams asks her friend Ric Peters to help her locate her missing father. Though he left a message saying he was going bushwalking, Elaina is unsettled by his uncharacteristic behavior. Ric, who has experience working in covert ops (though he bills himself as a photojournalist), agrees. The pair set off for Brisbane to see if they can get to the bottom of the mystery. Meanwhile, a group of cyber terrorists are poised to take down Australia's financial networks, and it seems that Elaina's father may be the key to it all. Degas pulls out the stops, offering well-crafted character voices with a staggering range of accents--American, Balkan, British, and, of course, his own Australian. Degas keeps the action moving with deft pacing, energetically narrating the action while allowing quiet moments to shine. No previous knowledge of the first book is required, as any necessary backstory is provided. VERDICT Listeners hoping for a little armchair travel, complete with a fun mystery and endearing characters, need look no further.--Sarah Hashimoto
