Whose voice could be more welcoming than Chris Ciulla's for this classic tale that could be a young listener's first chapter adventure? When Elmer Elevator heeds a stray cat's suggestion for a fine outing away from bothersome parents, he fills his father's backpack with a seemingly random variety of things and sneaks off. Soon, he discovers that rescuing a baby dragon on Wild Island requires courage, ingenuity, and quick thinking. Ciulla narrates in a rich timbre and confident tone, setting a forward-moving pace that belies any hesitancy on Elmer's part. But when Elmer comes face to face with hungry tigers and snapping alligators, Ciulla adds a bit of softness to his voice just in case a young listener might find the story too scary.
