Harrison narrates the story with gusto. He gives each member of the wide cast of characters a unique persona through the clever use of accents, which helps listeners follow the plot, with its various twists and turns. In addition, his authentic-sounding pronunciation of names and places helps to conjure a vision of pre-WWI Europe. The result is a delightfully intriguing listen. David Timson captures gentleman robber Arsne Lupin's multiple identities as he takes listeners through the many twists and turns of Maurice Leblanc's classic story. Timson gives the stranger who robs Rudolph Kesselbach an airy tone, even as menace creeps into his voice. Listeners will soon realize that the stranger is Lupin. Timson adopts a cackling voice when Lupin expresses jealousy or lusts for power. Timson also emphasizes the melodrama in the verbal exchanges between Lupin and a rival as he investigates murders committed in his name and seeks secret letters linked to those murders.
