Em Eldridge narrates Makenzie Campbell's raw and poignant poetry collection, which reveals exceptional vulnerability and is deeply cathartic. Written in a contemporary style that is honest and forthright, the poems unapologetically expose intense emotional themes that confront listeners on a visceral level. Eldridge has a pleasant tonality, but her performance maintains a cadence that sounds detached from the sentiments of the material. The poems in this collection are devastating and beautiful, conveying the darkness and light, love and hate, grief and grace that are universal. Although Eldridge's narration doesn't elevate the listening experience, this wondrous poetry collection is worthy of high praise. M.M.W. © AudioFile 2022, Portland, Maine
