Narrator Zura Johnson returns for the third installment of Asher's "Supernatural Singles" series (after Not Your Ex's Hexes). Olive, a witch and professor of supernatural studies, has always been the most reserved of the Maxwell triplets, focusing on her academic career rather than finding love. When circumstances necessitate her becoming roommates with guardian angel Bax Donovan, she's sure she will keep her crush a secret. What Olive doesn't know is that her friend has some secrets of his own. Assigned to the witch as her guardian angel, Bax agrees to help her mark items off her "Dare I Docket" list, bringing the duo closer than ever. Johnson's performance transports listeners to the supernatural side of New York City, as experienced by Bax and Olive. She captures the humor of the couple's misadventures, and her expressive delivery entertains. Using a variety of well-matched voices, she brings each character to life, most notably capturing Olive's reserved yet determined demeanor and the sultry, sarcastic nature of her close friend and succubus, Harper. VERDICT A charming supernatural romance. Listeners who enjoyed Johnson's performance in the first two books in the series will be equally delighted by the latest.--Amanda L. S. Murphy
